Our Origin
Thread Da Needle didn’t start in a boardroom. It started on a beach in Charleston, South Carolina. Two guys who came looking for some waves that day quickly realized surfing wasn't the only thing that brought them together. Hockey ran deeper.
In less than a year after meeting, Tom Jones & Bobby LaBrosse founded Thread Da Needle. The goal? Create hockey jerseys that hit as hard as the game itself. We wanted to stay close to the game that shaped us, work directly with hockey players, and make ordering team uniforms something captains can actually look forward to. We wanted a straight-forward process, killer threads, and no nonsense.
Just like you, we're hockey guys through and through. We know jerseys represents a lot more than just a logo and some colors. They're the threads that tie a team together. They carry the memories you'll never forget with the people you'll always remember. The good, the bad, the ugly - your jersey's been with you through it all.
Tom Jones (Tombo): Co-Founder
Founder One: Visionary & Creative Director
Tombo studied Canadian Studies and History at St. Lawrence University, where he founded the Sinful Saints Hockey Club and began designing team jerseys—learning early that a uniform is more than fabric; it is identity, pride, and belief stitched together. With over a decade of experience designing hockey uniforms, Thomas developed a deep respect for detail, quality, and the responsibility of building gear athletes trust.
After graduating, he attended University of St. Thomas Law School before stepping away to build Thread Da Needle full-time. Outside of work, Thomas values time spent surfing, hiking, and being with his family—pursuits that reflect the balance, discipline, and perspective he brings to the company. Today, he remains hands-on in every aspect of TDN, guided by a clear ambition: to build world-class hockey apparel and, one day, manufacture it locally in the Palmetto State.
Bobby LaBrosse: Co-Founder
Founder Two: Operations & Community Builder
Our second co-founder brings operational excellence and a deep commitment to building community. With a background in business management and customer relations, they ensure every interaction with Thread Da Needle reflects our values of care and authenticity.
